Group Mentoring
FAM Group Mentoring
Bridgewater State University
This program is designed for Brockton Public School (BPS) students identified as leaders facing barriers. Whether those barriers are systemic, academic, behavioral, or social emotional, the FAM model is designed to support BPS students through their four years of high school. We do this by pairing these students (mentees) with Bridgewater State University (BSU) student mentors and engaging them in intentional programming that promotes accountability, identity exploration and celebration, and leadership development. Students are given a platform to showcase their passions, build strong relationships, and have a place that prioritizes their humanity and safety.
Mentors and Mentees meet every Friday throughout the academic year at BSU.
The timeframe is from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., where mentees meet with their mentors, participate in reflective modules, teambuilders, and have dinner together. Mentees, mentors, and their families also participate in social action projects and community service.
